Charge Daily! Kriya Yoga Field Notes from the Temple, the Boardroom and the 3.30 AM Download

Updated: Sep 28
From one in a hundred to one in a million. A journey through silence, the mind, our roles, and the phone in your hand.
In Gratitude:
All the knowledge shared here has come from gurus, masters and acharyas.
These notes were written over many months. Some on WhatsApp, some in the backseat of the car, some after kriya, and one at 3.30 in the morning!
I am only the medium to present them here. My sincere gratitude to Histas Baba, our guruji, all the acharyas, and every kriyavan travelling with me in this "aeroplane of spiritual journey".
Summary:
Each of my spiritual notes was written on a different day, about a different topic. When I put them together, I saw that they tell one story. The story of a seeker who moves from thinking, to walking, to flying, to realising there is nowhere to go.
This blog starts with a simple question: why do so few people walk the path of self discovery? It then looks at how the divine makes itself known within us, what the silence of a temple teaches, why AI cannot do the inner work for us, the four paths for the four parts of the mind, and the two roadblocks every seeker meets. The phone in your hand becomes a mirror of who you are. A few real life experiences from work show how solutions arrive when the mind is still. Then you can rate your own life on the AAA scale. And it ends, as always, with a call to action and blessings.
If you have only one minute, here is the essence:
• You are already on the path. Now ask questions and explore on your own.
• AI sharpens the buddhi. Kriya yoga works on the other three: manas, chitta and ahamkara.
• The role is mine. I am not the role. Desires belong to roles, so accept them and use them to help everyone.
• When the mind is still, the answers download on their own.
• Be in Abundance. Have with Acceptance. Do with Awareness. That is AAA.
• Charge daily.
Part 1: One in a Hundred, One in a Million
The funnel of seekers:
Out of 100 people, 1 thinks of walking on the path of self discovery. They get the thought, but life pulls them back. Avoiding pain and seeking pleasure keeps them busy. Anyone reading the book Autobiography of a Yogi definitely starts thinking! I did, at the age of 15.
Out of 100 such thinkers, 1 walks the path. The rest keep thinking. Those who do kriya yoga don't walk. They fly!
Out of 100 such walkers, 1 realises that there is no path! Nowhere to go. The rest keep walking. This one is in the tranquil state.
Do the math. 1 in 100, then 1 in 100, then 1 in 100. One in a million!
You are already on the path:
If you are reading this, you are already on the path. Now you need to ask questions and explore on your own. Just like moving from school to college to PhD and then becoming a scientist!
At each level, you become more and more independent. The teacher becomes a guide. The guide becomes a reference. In the end, you discover for yourself.
I have written about this school, college, PhD and PostDoc of spirituality here: https://www.limaye.org/post/how-can-ice-in-himalayas-be-the-same-as-ice-in-a-glass-of-whiskey-from-school-where-everything-is
What greater discovery in this lifetime, than discovering your true self! Be that one in a million person to have walked on this planet as a visitor!
The seven stages of kriya:
So where are you on this journey? Here is how I see it, in seven stages.
1. Pleasure and pain phase (for most): There are many colours, shapes and sizes to engage the mind. Ever changing. Some good, some not so good. I always chase pleasure and avoid pain.
2. Seeking phase (for seekers): I realise that this is a never ending chase. Is there something constant beyond these visuals? A light within, maybe? Something inside, rather than outside? What steps do I follow to see it?
3. Decision phase (for those who decide): I have seen many paths, or maybe kriya is the first path I discovered. Let me get initiated.
4. Eureka phase (for beginners): I see the light in the initiation. I know what it is now. I want to see the light again. I will practise.
5. Consistent phase (for the on and off kriyavans): I keep oscillating between the visuals that please the mind and the light within. I slowly increase the frequency of my practise, its steps and its duration.
6. Progress phase (for regular kriyavans): I can see the light within, in paravastha. Bright, constant, infinite. I want to learn the higher kriyas.
7. Realisation phase (for those in the post kriya, tranquil state): I am the light. I don't seek anything. Things come as they come. Everything is divine. My guru is everywhere, in all forms. Anahata naada is constant within. I am aware of my contribution to everyone, playing all my roles.
Notice something? Stage 7 is the one in a million who realises there is no path.
Part 2: How Do You Know the Divine Is Present?
Fire is known by light, heat and smoke:
You may not see the fire, but you know it is there. You see its light, you feel its heat, you notice its smoke.
In the same way, the presence of divinity is known by sound, vibration and light within.
Be aware of this all pervasive divinity, within and outside, which is eternal. You connect with these three, the sound, the vibration and the light, through regular kriya practise.
Sometimes, as one starts the practice, one may not experience any of the 3. In that case, there is nothing to be disappointed about.
It only means that you are far from your self.
Just as the heat smoke and light of the fire are only felt when you are near it, not when you are in another city!
Similarly with kriya yoga as you start your journey, you come closer and closer to yourself, and experience the light, sound and vibrations of divinity within.
Silence at Someshwar Mahadev, Nasik:
I was at the Someshwar Mahadev mandir, on the river bank of the Godavari in Nasik recently during rains.
In summer, I was in Paris, on a holiday.
Whether it is the Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris or the Someshwar temple in Nasik, the being in silence is the same!
Kuch pal gujaro hamare saath! Spend a few moments with us!
This is what these divine places say, silently. One has to be equally silent to hear it.
In this silence there is only one. No one to experience. Nothing to do, nothing to ask, nothing to get. Just nothing.
It is not about selfies, photos, offerings and prayers. It is just about silence. That's all there is.
Going to these places is something you do by choice, not for any other purpose.
Doing kriya pranayama and being in paravastha at such a place takes you into further depths of silence within. By the blessings of gurus and the divine energy of the place, combined!
Part 3: The Mind. Four Parts, Four Paths.
Kriya yoga in the AI age is even more relevant than before!
In our businesses, we use AI every day. It is a powerful tool. But it is important to know what it touches and what it does not.
Our inner instrument, the antahkarana, has four parts:
manas (the emotional mind), buddhi (the intellect), chitta (the memory and impressions) and ahamkara (the ego, the sense of "I" in each role).
AI gives access to higher intelligence only. The buddhi.
The other three parts of the antahkarana stay untouched. Manas, chitta, ahamkara.
Kriya yoga works on all three:
1. Chitta: It clears the chitta, so thoughtlessness becomes the natural state. Three states then become visible: thoughtless (most of the time), thought (inspiration), thinking (when needed).
2. Ahamkara: It makes us aware of the ahamkara, the roles we play. The role is mine. I am not the role.
3. Manas: It lets us observe the manas, so emotions are seen as mine, instead of driving me.
Only then is the buddhi, plus AI, put to proper use: serving everyone, in every role, with complete awareness.
In the world of AI, the "why" of doing something and the "what" to do, are the key questions. This needs wisdom, either your own or from your mentor / guru / coach. The "how to" is the answer given by AI. As AI answers the how to incredibly fast, research that used to take weeks by a team is being done in a minutes.
To leverage the power of AI and take productivity to 10x, the other 3 parts of the mind have to be very stable. Otherwise, as my father used to say, "aswastha chittanam khatatopo bhayankarah" meaning, a disturbed mind generates (unnecessary and) extreme levels of effort (which takes one no where)".
This is actually true. It is not necessary to do 100 things. Focus on the 10 that really matter. Otherwise with the power of AI, it's very easy to lose focus, as you can do so much more now. But the question is, is it really needed?
Make the best use of AI with the foundation of kriya yoga, with a stable prana and a stable mind.
Four paths for the four areas of the mind:
If the mind has four parts, it follows that there are four paths, one for each.
• Karma keeps the ego roles (ahamkara) in awareness.
• Gyana clears the doubts in the buddhi.
• Yoga clears the chitta, the memory.
• Then one is ready for directing emotions to gyanottar bhakti, the devotion that comes after knowledge, ending the hold of the emotions (manas) completely.
It is interesting to note that most of the people are doing upasana, as bhakti happens after gyana. Just as most doing yoga are sadakas, not yogis. Yogis are the one, who have experienced samadhi. In karma marga, very few have role clarity. In gyana marga, most are students, studying gyana. A few realize it and become gyani.
One usually chooses one of these paths based on one's inner constitution. The others follow.
For me, it was gyana based on adwaita where i am still a student, then karma based on role modelling which is still getting clear, then yoga as a sadhaka with kriya yoga, till now. Bhakti, has not started yet. It will come one day, when I see the divine in all. It's still a long way ahead!
Our lineage: Sant Dnyaneshwar and Gulabrao Maharaj:
Sant Dnyaneshwar is in our direct guru lineage. Doing kriya yoga in Alandi is a great blessing. When I got the invitation for this retreat, happening in Dec 2026, I registered immediately. This is a divine calling.
Gulabrao Maharaj, our Mothe (elder) Maharaj as he is called in our sampradaya, is the one who visualised the photo of Sant Dnyaneshwar. He was Dnyaneshwar Kanya, the daughter of Dnyaneshwar. He combined bhakti and gyana, worshipping both Shiva and Krishna!
Many of his books are on yoga too. I read a few in my school days, where i did not understand much. It's time to read them again! He was easily at paramhans level and beyond, as he described many nuances of samadhi and moksha from self experience. His books are the referred by many from the varkari sampradaya.
Read more about him here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulabrao_Maharaj
In our Madhuradwaita sampradaya, bhakti and gyana are more prominent, as they have a wider acceptance for most, as people are usually either intellectual or emotional.
Hardly anyone is in yoga. Yoga marga is not for everyone as it needs lot of discipline. I am fortunate that his blessings have got me into kriya yoga, a natural path for me. I see him in our guruji. Kriya yoga is not only very simple to do, but is highly effective too and very flexible with almost no restrictions imposed, perfect for a normal house holder like me!
Form and formless are the same:
I came across an interesting video online. It's an amazing meeting of 2 realized masters.
Watch this video: https://youtu.be/sygMcKeWHf4?si=lF-J5W0UZrRD0idT
It shows the journey of Ramakrishna from bhakti to adwaita. And the journey of Totapuri from adwaita to bhakti.
The devotee of the form reached the formless. The master of the formless came to the form.
The key is to realise that the form and the formless are both the same. Whichever path suits you, you start from one side and reach the other.
I saw this in my own kriya yoga initiation. I insisted on Om, the formless, as my ishta, not a form. Clarity came later, during kumbh Mela retreat. The realisation that both are one, is yet to come.
Part 4: Two Roadblocks, and the Hidden 90 Percent
The two roadblocks:
There are 2 roadblocks to spiritual development. Desires, and impressions in the (sub conscious) mind.
Roadblock 1: Desires
Desires are linked to roles. Roles are mine. I am not the role. I enjoy playing the role, and I take actions according to what is right for the role. So desires are something I see as a way to help everyone. Not driven by fear and greed.
Most of the modern gurus tell you to drop desires. It is not possible, as long as you are playing roles, and have not taken sanyas.
Acceptance of desires is far more powerful than suppressing them. Seeing them as a medium to help everyone is transformational.
More about roles here: https://www.limaye.org/post/you-are-not-only-your-role
Roadblock 2: Impressions (vasanas)
Using subconscious mind tools, I clear the vasanas.

During the kriya yoga retreat, we visited Neem Karoli Baba's ashram at Vrindavan. There was a board on the avachetan man, the subconscious mind, clearly mentioning it. It said that thoughts, ideas and experiences all reside in the subconscious mind, forming the blueprint of our life.
With kriya yoga, the (usually inaccessible) subconscious mind comes into your direct access. Removal of negativity, and filling it with positivity, reaches deep levels in kriya pranayama and the other steps. After all, breath (prana) is directly linked to the mind!
It is no longer you feeling, thinking, remembering or being a role. You are the soul. It is your mind doing these. With this awareness, you get control over the subconscious mind, which holds 90 percent of the power, and hence over the conscious mind, which holds only 10 percent. The irony is that we use only the conscious mind!
Now I have better awareness and hence control over my subconscious mind.
I have the tools to alter my belief system, clear negative states, induce postive ones with journalling etc.
Once the body, energy and mind are a part of higher awareness, the journey of life in all aspects, spiritual, financial, emotional, social and professional, becomes so much easier.
Why suppression never works:
Anything you suppress makes you think about it more and more.
Take fasting for example. Fasting makes you think about food! On a normal day you would not have. But fast, and see for yourself what happens.
Similarly, we live with a lot of dos and don'ts because of our social, cultural, professional and emotional conditioning. We live by the blueprint of our subconscious mind.
The only conditioning we need is to treat everyone with love and respect. And help everyone.
So go with the flow. Eat when you are hungry. Sleep when you want to. Wake up when your sleep is over. After a few days you will establish your own rythm. You will automatically start getting up early and eating less after sunset.
Kriya yoga gets you into this state of acceptance of the self, and awareness of what is happening.
3 koshas and their attractions and aversions:
The body is attracted to food and drink and averse to fasting. The prana is attached to life and averse to death. The mind is attached to pleasure and averse to pain.
In each aspect of body energy and mind, there is a battle of being, doing and having! In each of these aspects there are attractions and aversions! This is a total of 3x3x2 combinations. 18 nos. Create a table and write them down as a quick exercise. Relate them to the roles you play to get clarity.
Is it only when you transcend from the triad of body energy and mind, that you go to knowing the realm of self with the duo of bliss.
The attraction and aversions are replaced by the connection within. The form and formless. The dual nature. The mind less state. Everything you need is always within you.
Part 5: The Phone and the Person
All of this can sound abstract. So let me explain it with the one object that never leaves your hand.
Look at the phone in your hand. It is a mirror. It works exactly like you.
The body is the hardware.
Sleek when new, scratched with use, slower with age. It is not you. It is what you carry yourself in. Kriya yoga, especially the maha mudra, keeps the body healthy.
The soul is the SIM.
Small, portable, holding your identity and your number. The handset changes. The SIM moves on. Kriya yoga makes you aware of the soul.
Death is a handset change.
The old device stops. Nothing of value is lost. The SIM goes into the new one and the same identity lights up again. In paravastha, the state is very close to being in death, as there is no awareness of the self.
Karma is the memory card.
Every photo, file and contact is carried forward. Some you want. Some you wish you had deleted. One round of kriya pranayama helps you evolve one year in the spiritual journey.
Universal consciousness is the network.
Just as mobile towers and data centres connect everyone together, universal consciousness connects everyone. We are all connected. One only has to make a call. Very few do!
Imagine most of us not being aware that a mobile is a medium to connect to others. We would all be in our own world of apps. Functioning, yet disconnected.
The unconscious mind is the firmware.
It runs the basic low level functions, like how the memory interacts with the processor. In us, it controls our breathing, heartbeat, digestion and so on. It's the same for everyone, and it's mostly taken for granted. This too is impacted by kriya yoga, as the breathing slows down on its own, heart beat rate reduces and awareness increases.
The subconscious mind is the operating system.
It runs in the background, decides what opens fast and what lags, and you mostly never see its code.
Negative impressions, thoughts and feelings are like a virus in the subconscious mind. Unseen, they keep doing the damage, corrupting data, slowing the phone and causing glitches. You don't seem to know why! Kriya yoga accesses the deep layers of the mind in kriya pranayama, as breath is closely related to the state of the mind.
The conscious mind is the screen.
Bright, busy, full of notifications. It thinks it is the whole phone. It's usually not aware of the subconscious mind. It can't access it, can't change it. Through kriya yoga, you get the awareness of the inner layers: the operating system, the firmware!
The skills you learn are the apps.
Each one downloaded with effort. Each one takes up space. Most stop working when the OS is not updated with time, or is corrupted. As kriya yoga clears the subconscious mind and updates the OS in the background, you can add new skills with ease.
The ego is the wallpaper.
Decorative. Changed often, just like the many roles we play in life. It's mistaken for the device itself, as it's the first thing you see. Kriya yoga brings this awareness, as one is in the kriya state.
Desires are the notifications.
Endless pings pulling your attention away from what you picked up the phone to do. If you are a phone, you will have notifications. Similarly, when you have roles, you will have desires. Nothing wrong with it.
• Being aware is the key.
• Not getting distracted is the key.
• Knowing that desires are linked to roles is the key.
• Accepting them is the key.
• Exploring how the desires can be a medium to help everyone is the key.
Kriya yoga steps are wired charging.
Skip it and the brightest device goes dark by evening. We have all experienced how the phone works when the battery is low. Slow, dim, unresponsive. Do kriya daily and everything else works.
Being in the kriya state is wireless charging.
Conscious breathing, kutastha, khechari and anahata keep the charging on! You may do the kriya yoga steps a few times a day, but you can be in the kriya state always. Even in sleep, with practise.
Meditation is airplane mode.
Every app still installed, every file still there. Just no signal in, no signal out. Pure stillness. This is the paravastha of kriya yoga.
The guru is the manufacturer's manual.
The guru knows everything. Rarely read. Always right. The guru lives in his teachings. Imbibe the teachings, and the guru lives in you. Just as holding the manual does not teach you anything, only seeing the guru as a physical form gets you little. It's the teachings that are the key. So watch the videos. Read the teachings.
And self-realisation?
Discovering you were never the phone. You were the one holding it.
You are the SIM. You are the mobile signal. Everyone and everything is manifested from you. They are all one. The expressed and the unexpressed both coexist.
Charge daily.
Part 6: Roles, Dharma, and Your Own Mahabharat
The journey within:
The journey within is
from
doing what looks right for yourself, driven largely by greed and fear,
to
doing what is right for your role,
to
Seeing yourself as a medium to help everyone, through the roles you play.
via
the ultimate awareness of kriya yoga. That's all!
This removes the confusion that comes from mixing up roles. Dhritarashtra mixed up his role as king with his role as father. Arjuna mixed up his role as warrior with his role as relative and friend.
I realise we are all in our own Mahabharat! Kriya yoga is our krishna, guiding us ahead with wisdom, love till eternity.
What is the difference? Who is Krishna?
Krishna, through his Bhagwat Gita, makes it clear what dharma is: doing what is right for the role. And selecting the set of actions in that role that is beneficial to the most people.
He also teaches to fight adharma using adharma when needed. This was precisely how the 4 senapatis of Kauravas were killed in Mahabharat.
Many people are afraid of doing adharma and keep suffering. Imagine there is a person who wants to attack you and hurt you. You will just sit and let it happen, or will you fight?
The first dharma is the dharma of self preservation. In this context, ahimsa becomes secondary to fighting for survival. So everything has a context. Miss the context and one takes decisions based on principles that don't apply in that situation!
This will originates from awareness. Higher the awareness, lower the inner battles of mahabharat.
How kriya yoga brings this awareness:
Through devotion to Krishna, Rama, Shiva, or whichever form you love. And by being in awareness, one sense at a time, as you enter the depth of the self:
1. Sound: Awareness of the inner sound in the ears, rather than the external noise outside.
2. Sight: Focus on kutastha, the third eye, by turning the eyes up within. Use focus, not the eyes.
3. Taste: The touch of the tip of the tongue on the soft palate inside.
4. Smell: The smell of the almost tranquil, non-existent breath, as it slows down.
5. Touch: Awareness at the centre of the tongue, as the sense of touch is silenced.
So keep practising. Keep getting closer to awareness.
Part 7: The Kriya State. My Toolkit.
Before I share my real life experiences, let me explain the four elements of the kriya state that I use all day. This is based on my experience. It may vary from person to person.
Khechari:
Curling up the tongue to touch the soft palate with its tip, and holding the position. This is level one. For a normal householder, this level is usually enough.
Anahata:
Hearing the inner sound within. Known as the sound of silence, or the Om sound. Being aware of this high pitch sound keeps the realisation that I am divine consciousness having a human experience. Here is how to hear it in 4 easy steps: https://www.limaye.org/post/immersion-in-inner-sound-in-an-instant
Kutastha:
Focus between the eyebrows. But behind, above the tip of the tongue in khechari. Initially, the eyes are used in the closed position to take the focus there, by turning them slightly upwards. Not straining them. Once the focus is established, the eyes are relaxed. The idea is to be relaxed.
Small breath:
Focus on the prana energy. As you exhale, move from the fontanelle to the third eye. Inhale and move up from third eye to fontanelle.
Both are in the same vertical line. Focus totally on the breath. Don't control. Observe. Thoughtless. Watch the way it increases in speed, slows down, stops, changes direction, and repeats the process. This is a small movement, only in 2 chakras. Maybe 2 inches only.
As the mind becomes the observer of breath, there are no thoughts possible!
An ice pack, not a steam iron:
When I am not able to focus, or sleep, or I get agitated or angry (usually at work), this is what I do.
I close my eyes. I put my attention on kutastha, above the tongue in khechari mudra. Not just between the eyebrows, but within. I connect with the anahata naada. I am aware of the small breath. There are no thoughts in this state. It is similar to paravastha, the tranquil state.
In a few minutes, the mind becomes calm, focused and relaxed.
I do this multiple times a day. Sitting in the office, in the backseat of the car, during meetings. Before getting up and before sleeping, definitely. It can be done even when you are lying down.
To be capable of handling greater responsibility, one has to be calm, with an ice pack on the head! Not a steam iron!!
This single step has dramatically improved my productivity and focus, and hence my work output.
Part 8: Real Life Experiences
Experience 1: The agitated client
Yesterday night, we had a major issue in one of our ongoing projects, as the client perceived the information differently.
Though the client was agitated, I was surprisingly calm.
I slept late, with the intention of getting the solution, and with focus on breath and kutastha.
Early in the morning, I got up with the solution in mind. I conveyed it to the client with supporting data.
I have done what I am supposed to do. Now, the gurus will guide us further...
I am now done with my kriya yoga. Though sleep was less, my energy is back to normal for a full day of work ahead.
This experience is the living proof of the power of kriya yoga...
Experience 2: The 3.30 AM download
Problem: I was working on a difficult strategy for work, online with the team, till late in the evening. There was no answer. Only a question of "how to?"
Process: I went to sleep at the usual time, with the intention of getting a solution, and a prayer to the acharyas, gurus and ishtadevta. I usually wake up after 7 am. That day, I woke up at 3.30. I went into the kriya state. Khechari, kutastha, small breath, anahata. Connected within. This was done by intuition. There was no plan to do this. It just happened.
Thoughts started coming. Guidance flowed. Possible ideas started coming in.
Solution: I started researching online based on the directions, and shared links, excel sheets and action points on the office WhatsApp group. I may have woken up a few team members with the notifications! Soon it was around 5 am. I went back to sleep.
Action: I will review what I shared with the team. I am sure the answer is there in the chat now.
Learning: Be connected to kriya. Solutions will present themselves. The same universal consciousness that posed the question is the one that gives the answer. You only have to receive it. And you can, when you are still within, thoughtless, letting the download happen by the gurus' blessings.
Experience 3: mother falls.
I was at my friends place for Ganesh Darshan, when around 8.30 pm, I got a call that my mother fell down and possibly fractured her arm. She is 81. Instead of panic, as I headed home, 3 decisions to be taken emerged.
Is it a fracture or not.
Do we need to get surgery done.
Should we admit her to the hospital.
Answers were: 2 fractures, but given her age and their location, no surgery needed and hence no admission to hospital needed. This was clear in the next few hours.
It is a different matter that she had to be admitted to the ICU after a few days, but it was not related to the fall, but complications in the digestion system.
It is in the moments of crisis that the kriya state plays out, without any conscious effort.
I also realised that when I am in pain, either emotionally or physically, it is very tough to be in this state. One has to take measures at the physical and emotional level to resolve the issue.
Experience 4: State of Anxiety.
A recent uncertainty in a project induced a high level of anxiety in me. I was getting irritated at small things and getting drained of energy. This went on for a couple of weeks. These were the days of long hours, but less output. It started affecting everything. Sleep, appetite, etc.
Finally, one day, I recalled the board of subconscious mind at Brindavan, in the aashram of Neem karoli baba, which I had seen earlier.
A 15 minute EFT session on anxiety by Brad yates on YouTube, and the anxiety level came down! It's not just about knowing, but recalling it at the right time and doing it.
I realised that specific issues need specific solutions by specific methods. For example, in fever, I had to take dolo tablet. In anxiety, i had to do EFT.
Believing that kriya state is the solution to all problems by itself, is not for me yet. It is only for realised masters. Not for ordinary people like me. I am governed by physical, emotional, social, financial systems in the material world.
I realized that, When we see movies like Hanuman ansh, or read about the miracles by gurus, there is a possibility of a false sense of confidence that perhaps, even we will be able to overcome the laws of nature, to an extent. This is not going to happen so soon! some people on this path, avoid taking medical treatment etc. hoping that normal kriya practise will solve the immediate problem.
Kriya yoga works on all aspects, needs regular practice and takes time. For immediate problems, you need immediate solutions, as one can't wait so much. This is a practical approach.
The kriya state helps to identify solutions fast, by seeing things objectively, which otherwise would take longer. Taking correct action, produces the results.
The problem is not in having the problem itself. It is in the lack of clarity to seek a solution, identify the correct one, implement it, check the result, correct yourself and keep going until you get there.
The kriya state helps in seeing your mind, body etc seperate. It's my mind. It's my body. I am not the mind. I am not the body. This is one of the realisations.
Keeping this realisation in crisis is the key. A support group of fellow buddies on the same path helps! This then gets one to think objectively rather than getting entangled.
Why do the answers come? Light, distance and time.
When you see something at a distance, the light takes time to reach you. So you see it as it was in the past. For example, when you see the moon, you are looking 1.28 seconds into the past.
When you reach a state where you can change the distance from the object to yourself at will, you can see into the past. This is what we hear in the stories, when rishis closed their eyes and knew what had happened in the past for someone.
The change in distance is not physical. It is within yourself that you create the distance. Time is known by the mind. When there are no thoughts, there is no mind and hence time. So distance is created at will within. Hence the rishis were able to see in the past. They were also able to see things at great physical distance, like vashishta and arundhati stars moving together, and into the depths of atoms, where tantu or strings make up everything at the fundamental level. From the fine to the grand, they were able to envision this.
I recollect an experience shared about kids being trained to see when blind folded. CIA training "remote viewers". This all sounds fascinating, but let's focus on what is within us! Let's believe our own experiences! As ones we know, we no longer have to believe!
Hence in paravastha, or the kriya state, as we are just normal practitioners, you may still get intuitive thoughts of what happened in the past, what is going to happen in the future, and what action to take now.
That is what happened at 3.30 AM. No thoughts, no time. Only the download.
Experience 5: organizational dynamics.
Yesterday, I was discussing organizational models, people behaviour etc with my mentor Ambrishji. I remarked that in most organizations, people put self interest ahead of the organizational interest. The intensity varies from armed forces, to companies to NGOs to spiritual organizations. He then made an interesting observation, this is due to basic human nature.
Align the team to a larger purpose (of helping everyone with their role, is how I interpreted it )
Every role, products and services of the organization, it's value system, vision and mission is aligned.
One can see this clearly in the armed forces where men don't care about loosing lives, when on a mission!
He shared an example of cotton guru, a person who transformed his organisation from being a cotton broker to being a thought leader for cotton industry, impacting farmers and all other stake holders.
Take a look at this!
The cultural transformation takes place fast then. Many companies have vision and mission statements, which talk about being number 1 etc. The powerful ones talk of what they can give back, rather than what they can become.
The purpose transforms the engine of the car, making it very powerful. The journey becomes faster automatically without pressing the accelerator hard!
Everyone in the car is on the same journey together!
Part 9: What Is Your Life Rating?
Banks get a credit rating. Companies get a credit rating. So does your life. The difference: you decide the grade.
The best score is AAA. Being in Abundance. Having with Acceptance. Doing with Awareness.
Take a quick check. Pick the letter that describes you today.
BEING in Abundance (the Future)
• A. I know I need nothing more to be blissful. I am bliss.
• B. I will be happy when I do something and get something. This is where most people live. Set a goal, work, achieve, set the next one. A treadmill that never stops.
• C. Goals are set but action has not started. Frustration and anger come up, but they are at least pointed in a positive direction.
• D. Constantly hunting for new ways to feel good and escape pain. Sometimes through relationships, sometimes assets, sometimes the senses. No goals, no direction.
HAVING with Acceptance (the Past)
• A. I already have what I need most. Home, food, clothes, family, health, kriya yoga. My needs are met. My wants are linked only to my roles.
• B. I have what I need, but I still want more. When one desire is fulfilled, the next one appears. This is ordinary human nature.
• C. The mind creates endless desires, some realistic, many impossible. I chase them anyway and stay dissatisfied.
• D. Having anything feels impossible despite my best efforts, or I am lost in an endless chase with no end in sight.
DOING with Awareness (the Present)
• A. I know I am here to serve. The only question is: how can I create value in others' lives through every role I play? Actions flow while resting in the anahata naada.
• B. I act towards defined goals with willpower and discipline. I enjoy some of it. Most of it, I do not.
• C. Actions are inconsistent. I procrastinate more than I act.
• D. I take no action, or I take actions that pull me away from my own goals.
Be in Abundance. Have with Acceptance. Do with Awareness.
That is AAA. The path to it is kriya yoga.
What is your rating today?
Part 10: Key Learnings
1. Only 1 in a million walks this planet knowing the true self. You are already on the path. Now explore on your own.
2. The divine is known by sound, vibration and light within, just as fire is known by light, heat and smoke.
3. Sacred places speak in silence. Be equally silent to hear them.
4. AI sharpens the buddhi. Kriya yoga clears the chitta, reveals the ahamkara and lets you observe the manas.
5. Karma, gyana, yoga and bhakti are four paths for four areas of the mind. Start with one. The others follow.
6. Form and formless are the same. Start from either side and reach the other.
7. Desires belong to roles. Accept them. Don't suppress them. Use them to help everyone.
8. The subconscious mind holds the blueprint of your life, and kriya pranayama gives you access to it.
9. You are not the phone. You are the SIM, the signal, and the one holding it.
10. Dharma is doing what is right for the role, choosing the actions that benefit the most people.
11. An ice pack on the head, not a steam iron! A few minutes in the kriya state resets the mind.
12. The universe that poses the question also gives the answer. Be still to receive it.
Part 11: A Prayer for Everyone
Ignorant are those who are not on the path of kriya yoga. Prayers to the gurus to bless them to start.
Fortunate are those who are on the path of kriya yoga. Prayers to the gurus to bless them to continue.
Unfortunate are those who don't continue kriya yoga. Prayers to the gurus to bless them to restart.
Prayers to the gurus to bless everyone.
Call to Action
Knowing is not enough. As the Marathi abhang says, "Kelyane hot aahe re, aadhi kelechi pahije." Things happen only when you do them. So here is what to do next.
1. Not initiated yet? Get initiated. Please don't wait for 40 years like I did. Read about my initiation experience and how to get in touch here: https://www.limaye.org/post/are-you-still-walking-on-the-path-of-spiritual-growth-how-about-flying-welcome-to-kriya-yoga-fast
2. Initiated, but stopped? Restart today. The gurus are already within you.
3. Charge daily. Do your kriya every day. Tushar has created a wonderful app to help all of us, kriyavans, with the gurus' blessings. Please use it daily!
4. Stay on wireless charging. Practise the ice pack technique a few times a day. In the office, in the car, in meetings. Before waking up and before sleeping.
5. Rate yourself. Take the AAA check today. Write down your letters. Check again after 21 days of regular practise.
6. Sleep with an intention. Take one question you are stuck with into sleep, with a prayer to your gurus. See what comes at dawn.
7. Visit a silent place, by choice. A temple, a cathedral, a riverbank, Alandi. Leave the selfies. Sit in silence. Do your kriya there if you can.
8. Read the manual. Watch the videos, read the teachings. Read Gulabrao Maharaj. Watch the Ramakrishna and Totapuri video.
9. Share this blog with one person who is still thinking about the path. You may be the reason they start walking. Or flying!
Blessing:
All the best! May the gurus bless you in the journey.
Blessing all of you to move from thinking, to walking, to flying, to realising that there is nowhere to go. May you hear the anahata naada, see the light in kutastha, and receive every answer you need in stillness. May you play every role with love, as a medium to help everyone.
Charge daily. Be that one in a million!
108 🙏 to the gurus and masters, who made kriya a state, not just a practise.
