Mother the power of manifestation, love, creation, destruction, wealth, everything!

Today is mother's day. A day celebrated in the western world to remember mother and do something special for her. I wonder, why are days needs to celebrate motherhood. Arent we all a creation of the mother nature and our biological mother. Shouldn't the awareness be at all times? Rather than once a year? This set me thinking about exploring the real mother in vedanta, sanatana Dharma and yoga. And it's manifestation in eternal aum.

Let's see some aspects of motherhood from ancient and modern times.

Mothers in Ancient education system.

Most of gurukuls were run by mothers as acharyas. Such was the respect for and knowledge of mothers in ancient India.

Mothers as Rishis wives

Wife's of various rishis had tremendous spiritual awareness and enlightenment. They were not just taking care of the household. They also raised superb children who in their life did pathbreaking work in different areas of sciences.

Mothers as Warrier queens and King makers.

Other than warrier mothers like jhansi ki rani, veer matajijabai created chatrapati shivaji maharaj from Shivba. It's warriers like him, who preserved the sanatana Dharma.

There is many examples like indra nooyi, who have scaled the pinnacle of their careers.

Mothers as destroyers of evil

A lot of mothers are in the armed forces, proving they are second to none. Ready to destroy the enemies as the threaten the nation.

Mothers as devis.

In our culture, there is a lot of respect for women, in all forms. Sister, wife, inlaws, daughter and mother. They are worshipped in different forms. They are not kept un educated, in a viel, unable to travel alone, seen as a slave, a reproduction machine. In all relations, The respect for mother is paramount.

Matriarchal society in kerala

Kerala is in the news for the movie. The Kerala story. Kerala is fundamentally an ancient matriarchal society with large joint families, all following the mothers lineage, not the fathers. The Kerala story was possible, as the fundamental culture and it's values in kerala is almost finished in most places.

Ms sindhutai sapkal, mai, or mother raised a thousand orphans and gave them a life of their own. A life of dignity and self respect. She did not have to be a biological mother. She showered motherhood on everyone who came to her. Dyneshwar mauli

Sant Dyneshwar is the only saint who is called mauli, or the mother in varkari sampradaya. His sanjeevani samadhi is the only one, which has his eternal blessings for everyone who calls him from the heart. His life is an example of un conditional love, inspite of him and his siblings being hated by the society as being children of a sanyasi. When the truth was discovered by the people, their transformation into love and respect was immediate and everlasting. Today, even after around 700 years, the love for mauli is in the heart of all devotees.

Unconditional Love from mother

The ultimate state of spiritual journey is love. This is in the fifth kosha, the anandmaya kosha. For a mother, it is natural to love un conditionally. Right now, this love is restricted to family. An expansion of motherly love as vatsalya (loving the lord as mother) bhakti is the easiest way for quick spiritual progress for a mother.

Divine Mother

After acknowledging all the forms of mothers, let's look at the divine form of mother.

Sat chit anantam. Has three parts. Truth, energy and infiniti.

Truth being Shiva, Shakti is energy, together, they create the universe. it is the energy of mother that manifests as the created universe.

The beeja or the seed is the male form, the water, sun light, air, are the female form. the tree is the manifested form and the fruits offsprings as a simple analogy. Together they, the male and female forms coexist, create and then a mother comes into existence.

Hence, to advance quickly on the spiritual path, Devi upasana is a must. Otherwise, it takes time, generally. Hence forms of Vishnu are prayed with radhe and Shiva with parvati.

Mother in aum

Aum has all three states, waking, dreaming and deep sleep, it has three states of creation, sustenance and dissolution. It has three aspects of brahman. Sat chit and anantam. The chit aspect of aum is nothing but the divine mother. When you are in eternal aum, every moment is mother's moment. Every day is mother's day.

Blessing

Mothers create the physical, emotional and spiritual foundation of their kids. Bless your kids in making them better human beings with the five fundamental principles of ahimsa, asteya, aprigraha, Satya and brahmacharya, in the modern context. (Given in other blogs). This will create a better society, a better nation and a better world. May being in eternal aum give you this power to fulfill a great responsibility.
